Relief pitcher Lou Trivino must be relishing playing for his hometown team.
Trivino, one of the Philadelphia Phillies‘ August call-ups, had a special hometown moment after Friday night’s 3-1 win over the visiting Minnesota Twins.

After the game, a white-haired woman wearing a Phanatic jumper beckoned the West Rockhill Township native over to the first base stands. The 6-foot-5 hurler was surprised to find it was his third-grade teacher Mrs. Yeager.
Security opened the gate, allowing Mrs. Yeager onto the field where she reconnected with her former student. A smiling Trivino chatted and signed an autograph for the woman and gave her a hug.
Trivino is a graduate of Upper Bucks Christian School and played locally for Pennridge Legion and Quakertown Blazers.
“Very thankful to be with the hometown team,” said Trivino in a previous text message to Bucks County Courier Times sports writer Tom Moore.

Trivino, 33, is the former Athletics closer, highlighted by 22 saves in 2021. He has appeared in five playoff games, including his 2018 debut in which he shut out the New York Yankees over three innings in a wild card game, compiling a 0.96 postseason ERA in 9⅓ innings. He also pitched for the Yankees in 2022 after going to New York in a mid-season trade from the A’s.

Trivino made his MLB debut on April 17, 2018, striking out two batters in an inning of scoreless relief for the A’s against the Chicago White Sox.

An 11th-round pick by the A’s out of Slippery Rock in 2013, Trivino went a combined 3-1 with a 4.42 ERA this season for the San Francisco Giants and Dodgers prior to the Dodgers releasing him on July 27.
