Two games left in the season, and the Jays still have stuff to do. It isn’t it great? A win and a Yankees loss would be the best, then tomorrow’s game won’t matter, but a Jays win is the important thing. If the Jays would like to score a dozen or so runs, I’d be ok with it.
I’d imagine that, if tomorrow’s game doesn’t matter, I’d expect Kevin Gausman to pitch no more than an inning or two. If it does matter, I’d still expect him not to go more than four or five.
There isn’t much for news, but then you wouldn’t expect much. Bo Bichette is apparently still swinging the bat, and he’s throwing some. From Rob Longley in the Sun:
“I think this weekend will tell us a lot,” Schneider said. “You want to see how he’s feeling and work with him on that, and how comfortable he is. But yeah, it’d be really nice to just write his name in the four hole. Just having his presence in the lineup would be a huge plus.”
And, he has stuff on Vlad. Maybe he’s thinking too much.
“I think when he’s going through stuff, he’s just a little like any hitter. He’s thinking a little bit more,” Jays hitting coach David Hopkins said prior to Friday’s first of three against the Tampa Bay Rays at the Rogers Centre, a 4-2 win that reduced their magic number for an AL East clinch to two with a pair of games to play.
“The at-bats are a little more defensive. He’s not attacking as much and really looking to drive the ball … he’s just trying to get a hit when he’s up there.”
Paul Simon had a song “Maybe I Think Too Much” and in one of the choruses he says ‘maybe you don’t think as much as you should.‘ Hmmm.

Today’s lineup. Pretty much the same group we’ve seen over the last while. Scoring a dozen or so runs would be nice.
There is a fair bit of pressure on Yesavage at a young age.
