{KXLG – Yankton, SD} The Watertown Arrows salvaged a split in their Sunday doubleheader against Yankton, earning a victory in the second game of the South Dakota high school baseball matchup.

Game 1: Yankton 7, Watertown 5

In the first contest, the Arrows found themselves trailing Yankton 7-2 heading into the final inning. Watertown mounted a late rally, with Carter Buisker, Cole Hansen, and Hayden Ries all scoring runs. However, the comeback fell short as two consecutive strikeouts ended the game with a 7-5 Yankton victory. Mitch Olson had a strong offensive showing for the Arrows, collecting three hits and driving in three runs. Ashton Rabine pitched five innings for Watertown, allowing four hits and striking out five.

Game 2: Watertown 4, Yankton 1 (F/8)

The Arrows bounced back in the second game, securing a 4-1 win in eight innings. After seven innings with the score tied at one, Watertown broke the stalemate in extra innings as Marcus Pitkin, Kaden Rylance, and Mitch Olson crossed the plate. Five different Arrows each recorded one hit in the contest. Cain Everson delivered an outstanding pitching performance for Watertown, going the distance and allowing just one run on five hits while striking out four.

With the split, the Watertown Arrows now hold a 6-8 record. They are scheduled to make up their previously postponed game at Brookings on Wednesday, May 7th.
