You can’t see me right now, but I’m rolling my eyes and sighing at the same time. Before the season began, the Texas Rangers had very high expectations. Joc Pederson, who was brought in a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks last offseason, declared that the Rangers would win the AL West. Major League Baseball is a 162-game season, but no team should be comfortable or content with losing. This team has been plagued with injuries yet again, but I don’t like blaming injuries due to a losing season. How does a team go from being two games behind for a final Wild Card spot to missing the playoffs altogether? The answer is simple: they let an opportunity slip through their fingers. The Rangers finish the 2025 MLB season with a record of 81-81 and finished third in the AL West. At least it’s better than finishing under .500.

On Monday, three managers were fired from their positions. One of them was Bruce Bochy. Bochy and the Texas Rangers have mutually agreed to part ways after three seasons. The 70-year-old led the Rangers to a World Series title in 2023. During his time with the team, he had a record of 249-237. Bochy has the option to rejoin the team in an advisor role and also seek other options. The San Francisco Giants announced that Bo Melvin was also dismissed from his managerial position after a two-year stint. Just like the Rangers, the Giants also concluded the season with an 81-81 record. Will Bruce Bochy be the Giants next manager for the second time, should that opportunity come? For 13 seasons, Bochy led the Giants to three World Series titles in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Also, he might reunite with Buster Posey, who has won all three of those championships and is now the President of Baseball Operations of the organization. Bochy, without a doubt, has a case to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame one day. While he did a great job in leading the Rangers to their first ever World Series title, I expressed on a Rangers fan page on Instagram that the team needed to move on from him. I believed that their disastrous finish to the month of September and the season was one of the deciding factors to Bochy being fired as manager.

Your own team not being in the playoffs is always heartbreaking. Now, the Rangers start their offseason and look forward to Spring Training in February. Last year, they ended up finishing that season with a record of 78-84, placing them in third in the AL West. It’s a bit of an improvement from last season, but injury-riddled Rangers failed to live up to their expectations for the second consecutive season.

Here are my predictions for 2026: 85 wins (previously I said they would win 87 games). Winning the AL West (my previous prediction of this is still the same). Corey Seager (25 home runs). Nathan Eovaldi (AL Cy Young Award Winner).

As Rangers fans like me wait for Spring Training and the 2026 MLB regular season to begin, all we can do is hope for the best next season. It’ll be a long, agonizing wait.
