The Seattle Mariners are still four days from opening the 2025 MLB playoffs, but they got one order of business out of the way Tuesday with the announcement of their postseason taxi squad.

How the Seattle Mariners are approaching ALDS roster construction

Seattle has set a 12-man taxi squad made up of six pitchers and six position players. The taxi squad will participate in the Mariners’ two intrasquad scrimmages at T-Mobile Park on Wednesday and Thursday.

Here’s the full M’s taxi squad:

• RHP Logan Evans
• RHP Michael Fulmer
• LHP Austin Kitchen
• RHP Casey Legumina
• RHP Collin Snider
• RHP Troy Taylor

• INF Colt Emerson
• C Nick Raposo
• INF/OF Samad Taylor
• OF Rhylan Thomas
• INF Ben Williamson

MLB teams are allowed taxi squads that travel with the squad and are at the ready should a replacement player be needed. Taxi squads are limited to five players during the regular season but are increased to 12 for the playoffs.

The headliner of the Mariners’ taxi squad is Colt Emerson, their top-ranked prospect and the No. 11 prospect in all of baseball per MLB.com. The 20-year-old shortstop began 2025 with the High-A Everett AquaSox, slashing .281/.388/.453 for an .841 OPS with 11 home runs. He then played 34 games for the Double-A Arkansas Travelers, slashing .282/.360/.430 for a .790 OPS with three home runs. And finally, he appeared in six games at the end of the season for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, going 8 for 22 (.364) with two homers and a 1.171 OPS.

Emerson was a first-round pick by the Mariners in the 2023 MLB Draft.

Seattle’s taxi squad features seven players who played for the M’s during the 2025 MLB regular season: pitchers Logan Evans, Casey Legumina, Collin Snider and Troy Taylor, third baseman Ben Williamson, utility man Samad Taylor and outfielder Rhylan Thomas.

Evans, a 24-year-old rookie, started 15 games for the Mariners this season, while Gonzaga product Legumina made 48 appearances as a reliever for Seattle.

Williamson, 24, slashed .253/.294/.310 for a .640 OPS with one home run and five stolen bases in 85 games as a rookie for the Mariners this year. He also had 1.3 fWAR thanks to his stellar defense at third.

The 27-year-old Taylor was a standout in Triple-A this year, slashing .296/.378/.461 for an .839 OPS with 17 home runs, 86 RBIs and 44 stolen bases in 137 games.

Fulmer, 32, is an interesting name on the taxi squad. A former All-Star and the 2017 American League Rookie of the Year, Fulmer began his career in the big leagues as an effective starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers before transitioning to a relief role in 2021. The Mariners signed Fulmer to a minor league contract on Aug. 19, after which he posted a 0.75 ERA and 1.000 WHIP in 12 games for Tacoma.

The AL West champion Mariners are the No. 2 seed in the AL for the playoffs, giving them a bye past the wild card round. Seattle will host the winner of the AL Wild Card Series between the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers in an AL Division Series starting Saturday at T-Mobile Park.
