SEATTLE — It’s going to be a busy weekend in downtown Seattle.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a football fan, a baseball fan, or a soccer fan: this weekend, you will get your pick of games, all being played in Seattle.
The Mariners will begin their postseason at T-Mobile Park on Saturday and Sunday, hosting either the Detroit Tigers or the Cleveland Guardians.

According to the Mariners, the team will play at either 1:08 p.m. or 5:38 p.m. on Saturday and at 5:03 p.m. on Sunday.
The Yankees and Red Sox Wild Card series outcome will determine when the Mariners play on Saturday. If Boston wins the series, the Mariners will have the earlier slot. If New York advances, the M’s will play in the evening.
The Sounders will play Portland at Lumen Field on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and the Seahawks will host the Buccaneers there on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
“This is a great problem to have,” Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell said.
Harrell said while downtown is going to be busy, loud, and fun, fans should keep a few things in mind before, during, and after the games.
“Get there early, spend some money in the local places,” Harrell said. “Don’t over-drink, be safe, be kind to visitors from other cities. It goes a long way for our image of Seattle.”
The Seattle Police Department (SPD) said they will be staffing appropriately and are asking game-goers to be patient if they’re driving, and suggest fans take public transportation to beat the traffic.
“We’ll be ready to protect and serve in terms of traffic management,” Harrell said. “But what a great problem to have—we’ll get through it.”
This is not the first time games have overlapped like this. Harrell said Seattle police are trained to monitor large crowds, and he said he is confident the weekend will be successful.
“Public safety remains our primary concern,” Harrell said. “So, we’ll look at liquor consumption and crowd management and make sure that we’re doing it in the right way.”
A spokesperson for the Mariners said the “fans will be a big part of a deep postseason run,” so remember to bring your energy to T-Mobile Park this weekend, or any other game you go to.
