D-backs become first MLB team to offer device for visually impaired, blind fans

  • October 2, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Arizona Diamondbacks are ensuring that every fan can enjoy the game of baseball, thanks to a one-of-a-kind device.

The Diamondbacks are now the first team in MLB to offer a tactile broadcast for blind and visually impaired fans, as part of a partnership with Seattle-based startup OneCourt.

The tablet features a baseball field and strike zone. It takes MLB tracking data and converts it into vibrations, allowing fans to “feel” the game. Fans can plug in the headphones, follow the prompts and experience the game through touch!

For the rest of the season, five devices will be available at no cost on a first-come, first-serve basis for fans. They will be available in Section 128 Guest Relations Center.

Last month, the team hosted a group from the Foundation for Blind Children to test out the tablet. Nonprofits serving the blind and low vision community can email dbacksfoundation@dbacks.com to ask about using the devices.

The Diamondbacks are now the second Valley sports organization to offer the device, joining the Phoenix Suns and Mercury.

Nick King previously spoke to 12-year-old Chris Lopez, who got to cheer on his Suns thanks to the tablet. The devices are available to check out free of charge at Guest Services for each home Suns and Mercury game.
