(CLEVELAND, Ohio) The Cleveland Guardians baseball team has a connection to St. Joseph.

The Guardians are playing the Detroit Tigers in Game 3 of the American League Wild Card round Thursday afternoon.

Cleveland’s hitting coach is MoWest Hall of Fame baseball player Grant Fink. The former Griffon and St. Joseph Mustangs standout is in his first season as the Guardians’ hitting coach.

Fink was inducted into the MoWest Hall of Fame in 2022. He played two seasons for the Griffons including a stellar 2013 season that included a .355 average and helped lead MoWest to a MIAA title.

The former Griffon played for the St. Joseph Mustangs in 2013. He was drafted by Cleveland in the 23rd round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

The Guardians and Tigers are tied at 1-1 in the Best-of-3 series.
