Reds MLB playoffs locker room celebration

Red players, coaches and staff pop bottles in the visitors clubhouse at American Family Field after clinching a 2025 National League wild card berth.

Cincinnati Reds fans weren’t too happy with star actor Rob Lowe this week, when Lowe, a self proclaimed Reds fan, was seen cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Reds in the National League Wild Card Series.

Now, his brother has something to say about it.

“As soon as our Reds are back in the World Series, he’ll be up on the dugout waving our flag,” actor Chad Lowe said to The Enquirer through a social media message.

“If we let him.”

Rob Lowe, who grew up in Dayton, Ohio, alongside his brother, was seen on the ESPN broadcast excitedly cheering for LA while in Dodgers gear after Tommy Edman homered off Reds starter Hunter Greene in the third inning of Game 1 on Tuesday. The hit gave Los Angeles a 5-0 lead.

LA swept the Reds 2-0 with a win Wednesday.

Lowe previously talked to MLB.com about being a lifelong Reds fan. In 2019, he threw out the first pitch at Great American Ball Park and was spotted with Reds Hall of Fame announcer Marty Brennaman. He has, however, been known to frequent Dodgers games, as he moved with his family from Dayton to California when he was about 12.

“You had to hate the Dodgers; it was the law,” Lowe recalled to MLB.com in 2015. “The Reds played them in one of the first games I went to at Dodger Stadium, and the players were all around to sign autographs. Tommy Lasorda was there too, so I went up to him and said, ‘We’re going to beat you today.’ He just looked at me and said, ‘We’ll see about that, kid.'”

Chad Lowe has seemingly stayed loyal to his Reds fandom, wearing Reds gear on Instagram and even appearing in the HBO documentary “Charlie Hustle & The Matter of Pete Rose” in 2024.

“Pete Rose was my childhood idol,” Chad Lowe posted to Instagram following Rose’s death in September 2024. “I was fortunate enough to watch him play in person for our beloved (Reds). He taught me many valuable life lessons: Take pride in where you’re from. Love what you do. Always hustle. Idols are flawed.”

Rob Lowe visited Cincinnati just days before the Reds-Dodgers series for the Kroger Wellness Festival, which took place Sept. 26 to 27. He dined at Scotti’s Italian Restaurant in Downtown during his visit, owner Marco DiMarco confirmed to The Enquirer.

The Enquirer reached out to Rob Lowe for comment.
