LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Clark County commissioners will soon consider approving a development agreement for the Athletics’ proposed stadium on the Las Vegas Strip.
The agreement is listed on the agenda for a public hearing at the commissioners’ zoning meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 8, after being introduced last month.
A development agreement is necessary as a condition of the special use permit that commissioners approved back in April.
It covers issues like regional infrastructure and public facilities for police and fire. It also requires the A’s to report on their progress and sets terms if there are construction delays or a failure to comply with the agreement.
Earlier this year, the A’s broke ground on the stadium, located at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. The total capacity is expected to be 33,000, including 30,000 fixed seats.
The team says it expects to finish construction in time for the 2028 Major League Baseball season.
In the interim, the A’s are playing home games in West Sacramento, California. They will travel to Las Vegas to host a week of regular-season games against Milwaukee and Colorado in June next year.
