Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays for today’s fantasy baseball slate on DraftKings, which starts at 2:08 p.m. ET.

Major League Baseball is ready to stuff Saturday’s scoreboard with four great games, as the four Division Series get started. The action starts in the NL Central when the Brewers host the Cubs at 2:08 p.m. ET, and the final game gets underway at 8:38 p.m. ET, when the Tigers visit the Mariners in Seattle. With four games on the slate and eight teams in the all-day player pool, several strong DFS fantasy baseball plays are worth considering for lineups from different parts of the salary spectrum. Let’s dive in for a quick rundown of some of the top places I think you can find value in my MLB DFS picks for Saturday’s slate.

As is typical so far in the playoffs, the run totals for today’s games are lower than usual since we only have strong pitchers in play, especially for Game 1. The highest run total on DraftKings Sportsbook is 8.5 between the Yankees and Blue Jays, and the lowest is seven in the two later games. Three of the four games are in domes and the fourth is in Philly, which has a solid weather forecast as well. It should be another exciting day of postseason baseball, so let’s jump right into the slate.

PITCHERS

Value

Kevin Gausman, Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees, $7,500: Gausman struggled in his last two starts of the regular season, giving up four runs to the Red Sox and four runs to the Rays, but he has been solid against the Yankees. At home, and I think the veteran will end up being a solid value play, whether you pair him with an ace like Cristopher Sanchez ($8,700) or George Kirby ($8,500) or a bargain like Matthew Boyd ($7,000).

Gausman posted a 10-11 record in his 32 starts this season with a 3.59 ERA and 3.42 FIP. He pitched a career-high 193 innings and posted 189 strikeouts. He averaged 18.1 fantasy points per start on the season and 18.6 fantasy points per start at home. He pitched four times against the Yankees this season, going 2-1 with a 3.97 ERA and producing 14.4 fantasy points per start. He faced them at the beginning of September in New York and held them to one run on four hits over eight innings to total 27 fantasy points.

Gausman isn’t a lock, but at this salary, he brings a lot of upside and value. Facing the Yankees is no easy matchup for sure, but now that we’re to the playoffs, we can’t just rely on pitchers facing the Pirates and White Sox. He has proven he can produce in this matchup, so I like him as a value option on Saturday.

INFIELD

Stud

Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Philadelphia Phillies, $4,700: Betts had four hits, including three doubles, to finish the Wild Card series against the Reds with 26 fantasy points in Game 2. He also had two hits in Game 1, continuing his momentum from a hot finish to a down year statistically. Betts hit .299 in September with six of his 20 homers along with a .376 wOBA in those 24 games.

He went 6-for-9 in the short series against the Reds, and he’s a .272 career playoff hitter with eight homers, 16 stolen bases, and a .336 wOBA in 76 playoff games. He typically hits lefties well and is 2-for-6 in his past meetings with Sanchez.

Value

Andrew Vaughn, Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs, $3,300: Vaughn will likely start for the Brewers since they’ll be facing Cubs’ lefty Matthew Boyd ($7,000). Vaughn was a key midseason pickup for the Brewers from the White Sox. He hit .254 overall this year but did most of his damage in his 64 games for the Brew Crew. He hit .308 with 14 doubles, nine homers, and 46 RBI.

Against lefties since being called up in early July, Vaughn hit an impressive .403 (29-for-72) with six doubles, two homers and a .460 wOBA. Getting him at just over $3,000 is a great way to save some salary at 1B while still getting a very good bat with a favorable matchup. Vaughn is 3-for-12 against Boyd in the past with two doubles and a home run.

OUTFIELD

Stud

Teoscar Hernandez, Los Angeles Dodgers at Philadelphia Phillies, $4,300: Using Hernandez at this salary doesn’t even make it tough to fit in another star slugger or two in your outfield spots. He’s surprisingly affordable given how strong he finished the regular season and started the playoffs. Hernandez closed the regular season with a six-game hitting streak, going 7-for-23 (.304) with a double, a triple, and a home run in the closing week of the season.

Against the Reds, Hernandez smashed two homers in Game 1 on his way to 35 fantasy points, and in Game 2, he added nine more fantasy points by going 1-for-5 with a double and two RBI. Like Betts, Hernandez is on the slightly stronger side of his splits against lefties, and he’s also had some success against Sanchez, going 5-for-12 with two doubles and two homers in their past meetings.

Value

Nathan Lukes, Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees, $3,200: Lukes may only have limited opportunities in this ALDS since the Yankees are so heavy on left-handed hitters, but the lefty should be in the lineup for Game 1 as the Yankees give the ball to righty Luis Gil ($6,500).

Lukes was hitting second in the order against righties for most of the final month of the season, which could put him in a prime run-producing position on Saturday. Lukes hit a solid .267 (16-for-60) over his last 20 games with three doubles, a triple, and a pair of home runs. He hit .262 with a .314 wOBA at home against righties on the season, and he’s a very affordable way to get a piece of the Blue Jays lineup against Gil at home.
