The Plainview Bears traveled to Gurley to take on the Madison County Tigers on Friday night. The Bears continued to take care of business in Class-4A Region 7 with a 41-21 victory over the Tigers. With the victory, Plainview Head Coach Dale Pruitt recorded his 325th win of his career. 

Plainview’s Kristopher Sandlin started the scoring with a 40-yard touchdown run with 5:00 to go in the first quarter. After the extra point, the Bears took a 7-0 lead. 

The Bears added the second touchdown of the night right before halftime when Brody Hodges scored from 5 yards out to give Plainview a 14-0 lead at halftime. 

In the second half, Plainview took the kickoff and drove down the field to add another touchdown when Janzen Currie scored from 9 yards out to make the score 20-0. Plainview failed the 2-point try. 

The Bears’ defense held the Tigers scoreless until 2:00 to go in the third when Keonta Hill scored for 2 yards out to cut the Plainview lead to 20-7 after the extra point. 

The Bears responded quickly on the first play of the next drive when Owen Hope found Brayden Lingerfelt for a 54-yard touchdown pass. After the extra point, Plainview took a 27-7 lead into the fourth quarter. 

After the Plainview defense forced a three-and-out, the Bears’ offense quickly scored again when Sawyer Wilborn scored on a 33-yard run with 10:00 left in the game. After the extra point, Plainview extended the lead to 34-7. 

Hill scored again for Madison County to cut the lead to 33-13 after the missed extra point. 

Hodges added another rushing touchdown this time from 50 yards out with less than three minutes to go, making the score 41-13 after the PAT. 

Madison County scored a touchdown with less than a minute to play. 

Owen Hope had 113 yards passing and a touchdown. Brody Hoges has 14 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Janzen Currie had seven carries for 85 yards and a touchdown, while Sawyer Wilborn had two carries and one touchdown. Brayden Lingerfelt had one catch for 54 yards and a touchdown.  

Plainview improves to 6-0 (4-0) on the season. The Bears will host the North Jackson Chiefs next week.Â
