Takeaways from Brewers’ 9-3 win over Cubs in Game 1 of playoff series
JR Radcliffe joins Dominique Yates to recap the Milwaukee Brewers’ 9-3 win over the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of their best-of-five playoff series.
Milwaukee Brewers had an electrifying start to their 2025 playoffs.
Pat Murphy’s team showed that their six-day break didn’t slow them down as the Brewers put forth an early offensive onslaught on their way to a 9-3 win over the Chicago Cubs on Oct. 4 before a sold-out crowd at American Family Field.
The Brewers now have the early advantage in the best-of-five National League Division Series. Can they carry over this kind of performance into Game 2? And can they get another superb performance from their starting pitcher like they did from Freddy Peralta in Game 1? They’ll have to wait 48 hours.
The Brewers and Cubs don’t play Game 2 until late Oct. 6.
Here’s what to know about the Brewers playoff schedule and when they play next:
Do the Brewers play today?
No, the Brewers-Cubs series has a one-day break, along with the other National League Division Series that features the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies.

Did the Brewers win today? Brewers final score vs Cubs
The Brewers pounded out 13 hits and batted around twice in the first two innings to cruise to a 9-3 win over the Cubs.
They scored six in the first and three in the second to take control of the game, setting an already fired-up crowd into a frenzy.
The game, however, didn’t start out well for the Brewers. Cubs lead-off batter Michael Busch took Freddy Peralta deep to give Chicago a quick 1-0 lead. But Peralta settled in nicely and the offense had an emphatic response.
Peralta went 5 ⅔ innings, tied a franchise playoff record in striking out nine and allowed two runs — both solo home runs — on four hits.
The Brewers’ offensive attack included everyone. Jackson Chourio (three hits), Brice Turang (two), William Contreras (two) and Blake Perkins (two) all had multi-hit games. However, Chourio left the game in the second inning with a hamstring injury. His status moving forward is a key development to watch.
