The Detroit Tigers were arguably the coldest team in the 2025 MLB playoffs by the end of the regular season, but they’re starting to heat up now that the postseason has started.
With rookie Troy Melton on the mound, on the road and facing a favored Seattle Mariners team, the Tigers found a way to take a 1-0 ALDS lead with some extra-inning heroics from Will Vest, Zach McKinstry and Keider Montero.

Now the Tigers have stolen home-field advantage with a 3-2 win over the Mariners in Game 1 of the ALDS on Saturday, Oct. 4 and will have their ace Tarik Skubal on the mound for Game 2 on Sunday, Oct. 5.
