“We’ve talked a lot about how this window of contention is upon us,” Breslow said.

This season, the Red Sox saw key free-agent additions such as Garrett Crochet and Aroldis Chapman pay off, while young players like Roman Anthony and Ceddanne Rafaela showed promise.

However, the season wasn’t without challenges. Boston traded arguably its best player, Rafael Devers, in June, and Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Triston Casas all missed significant time with injuries.

Still, the Sox pushed through and brought October baseball back to New England.

Looking ahead, Alex Bregman and Trevor Story could opt out of their contracts and test free agency. The team also holds a club option on outfielder Jarren Duran.

Starting pitching and power hitting are expected to be top priorities entering the offseason.
