The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from advancing to the National League Championship Series.
And they’ll call upon a former Boston Red Sox pitcher to make the Game 3 start against the Chicago Cubs.
Quinn Priester was named Wednesday’s starter after Milwaukee’s Game 2 win over the Cubs that put the Brewers up 2-0 in the NL Division Series.
After taking the first two games at home, Milwaukee will try sweep Chicago at Wrigley Field.
Priester, in his first season with Milwaukee, went 13-3 this season for the Brewers with a 3.32 ERA, 1.239 WHIP and 132 strikeouts in 157â…“ innings pitched.
The Red Sox surprisingly traded Priester in April — about eight months after they acquired the right-hander from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Hindsight is always 20/20, but the Red Sox certainly would have benefited from having Priester — especially with the several injuries and struggles Boston faced with its pitchers throughout the season.
Now Priester will get a chance to continue the Brewers’ dream season with a tripe to the NLCS within reach.
