The Texas Rangers have placed outfielder Evan Carter on the 10 day injured list due to a quadriceps strain, the team announced today. To take his place on the active roster, the Rangers have activated outfielder Kevin Pillar from the injured list. In addition, the Rangers have optioned pitcher Cole Winn to AAA Round Rock, and have recalled pitcher Caleb Boushley from AAA Round Rock.

Carter was scratched from the lineup yesterday with quad soreness, but it sounded like it was something that they expected he’d be able to return from on Tuesday, after tomorrow’s off day. Instead, Carter will be out until at least a week from Tuesday.

The Rangers would not be able to recall Boushley but for the injured list move. Since a player can be recalled from an optional assignment without waiting the usual requisite amount of time if a player is replacing someone who is going on the injured list, so Boushley and Winn could end up being swapped out.

UPDATE — Per the beats, Bruce Bochy says it is a Grade 2 strain, and Carter will miss at least two weeks.
