Scenes inside Comerica Park before Tigers-Mariners Game 3 of ALDS
Comerica Park, rain and all, is buzzing more than an hour before the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners play Game 3 of the ALDS on Oct. 7, 2025.
The Detroit Tigers are all set for their 2025 home playoff debut, but the rainy weather pushed the Game 3 start time back a bit.
The Tigers were scheduled to play the Seattle Mariners in Game 3 of the ALDS on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 4:08 p.m. ET at Comerica Park in Detroit, but the rainy weather the city has received all morning (with more potentially on the way) delayed the start time to 7 p.m. ET.
Per AccuWeather, the chance of raiwill clear up to 0% around 8 p.m. ET — though the forecast could change as the day progresses.

It took the Comerica Park grounds crew a couple of tries to roll it up, but the tarp is officially off the infield. Once the bases are installed and the chalk lines are drawn, the field should be ready for baseball.
The Tigers have announced that Game 3 of the ALDS between the Tigers and Mariners will start at 7 p.m. ET.
The rain appears to have paused at Comerica Park for now, but according to AccuWeather there is still a 64% chance of rain at 7 p.m. ET.
The Comerica Park grounds crew made an appearance around 6 p.m. (with a small roar from the crowd) as they begin the work of removing the tarp from the field.
Rain is still falling at Comerica Park, and we don’t have an updated start time yet.
According to AccuWeather, the chance of rain falls to 49% at 7 p.m. ET and to 0% at 8 p.m. So while we don’t yet know when the game will start, there’s a very good chance we’ll get all of Game 3 in by the end of the night.
The rain has delayed first pitch for Game 3, though we still don’t know by when it will start.
Thankfully, the weather should only affect Game 3 in Detroit, with AccuWeather predicting clear skies and a 0% chance of rain in Detroit on Wednesday for Game 4.
And if this series goes to a Game 5 in Seattle on Friday, it might come with rain as well — though there should be no delay since T-Mobile Park has a retractable roof.
Had there not been a rain delay, today’s Game 3 between the Tigers and Mariners would have already started.
But with the rain still falling and the tarp still on the field, the delay continues. We’re also still waiting for a newly-announced start time, which the Tigers have not yet provided.
With rain in the forecast around 4 p.m., the Tigers have announced that today’s ALDS Game 3, originally set to start at 4:08 p.m., has been delayed.
The Tigers have yet to announce a new start time.
While we still have no official word on a potential delay, and while the rain has slowed down somewhat at the ballpark about one hour before first pitch, more rain might be heading towards Comerica Park.
Per AccuWeather, the chance of rain at 4 p.m. ET has increased to 79%. The chance of rain around 8 p.m., however, is still at 0%, meaning we’ll likely get Game 3 in before the day is over.
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch is optimistic the Tigers and Mariners will play a Game 3 on Tuesday, though he doesn’t know for sure when the game will start.
“We don’t know exactly when we’re going to start,” Hinch said. “Right now, it’s on time. I think I’m going to get an update as we get closer to game time.”
It seems like the grounds crew at Comerica Park was prepared for the rain.
Though there is only light precipitation at the moment, a tarp has been covering the infield all day so far — though the weather has been mild enough for players from both teams to warm up in the outfield.
