On the heels of consecutive shutout losses, the Milwaukee Brewers look to avoid a sweep and score some runs on Sunday afternoon, May 18 against the Minnesota Twins.

Follow along for live updates from American Family Field as Freddy Peralta (4-3, 2.66) starts for Milwaukee against Zebby Matthews, making his season debut.

Brewers finally break through

Hold the presses because the Brewers aren’t going to be shut out again in this one.

After 19 consecutive scoreless innings to open the series, Milwaukee struck in the second on a Sal Frelick two-strike RBI single to right. Christian Yelich and Rhys Hoskins had opened the inning with consecutive singles, then advanced on an Isaac Collins bunt.

Frelick delivered the long-awaited run with a bloop hit to right with two strikes off Twins right-hander Zebby Matthews to make it 1-0. That was all the Brewers would get, though, as Caleb Durbin popped up and Joey Ortiz grounded out.

The lead morphed into a four-run advantage with a two-out rally in the fourth.

It again started with the middle of the Brewers order getting on base, as William Contreras, Yelich and Hoskins all drew two-out walks against Matthews. Isaac Collins then pushed the lead to 3-0 with a single to center on the first pitch, a fastball, from Matthews.

Sal Frelick, on the 36th pitch of the inning, followed with another single to center, this time scoring Rhys Hoskins.
