What to know as Seattle Mariners head to deciding Game 5 in ALDS

The start time of the Mariners-Tigers matchup was dependent on the results of Wednesday’s ALDS Game 4 contest between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays, which Toronto won 5-2 to clinch the series and a spot in the AL Championship Series.

The TV broadcast of the finale of the Mariners-Tigers series will air on FOX.

The radio broadcast of Friday’s game will air on 710 AM Seattle Sports and the Seattle Sports app. An extended pregame show will air for at least two hours before first pitch.

Left-hander and reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal is set to take the mound for the Tigers. The Seattle U product is looking for his first win in what will be his fourth start against the M’s in the regular season and playoffs this year. Seattle has yet to announce its Game 5 starter.

The winner of Game 5 will advance to the ALCS to face the Blue Jays. That series will begin with Game 1 on Sunday in Toronto at a time that has yet to be determined. The Mariners are looking to reach their first ALCS since 2001. The Tigers lasted reach the league’s championship series in 2013.

Seattle is 2-0 all-time in winner-take-all playoff games, but hasn’t played in one since Game 5 of the 2001 ALDS.
