The Mets sent seven prospects to the desert for the 2025 Arizona Fall League, and on Wednesday, five of them appeared in a game for the Scottsdale Scorpions.
D’Andre Smith played left field and batted ninth, providing his usual spark. The 24-year-old went 1-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and a stolen base. He was also hit by a pitch following a hard-fought, eight-pitch at-bat.
Smith, who played both second base and corner outfield during the majority of his 2025 season with Double-A Binghamton, will be Rule 5 eligible for the first time in his career this offseason.
MMO‘s No. 14-ranked prospect, Chris Suero, caught all nine innings. The 21-year-old went hitless at the plate in three at-bats but was productive, drawing two walks, swiping a base, and driving in a run. Behind the plate, Suero managed six different pitchers, including three from Met affiliates.
One of the Met pitchers Suero managed was 2023 11th-rounder Brett Banks. The right-handed reliever was sharp in his single inning of work, striking out two Rafters. Banks’s fastball sat at roughly 96 mph and topped out at 97.3 mph. He also showcased his work-in-progress slider, using it three times outside the zone to fan Braylen Wimmer on three straight swinging strikes.
Austin Troesser, a former fourth-round pick from that same 2023 draft, also found his way into Wednesday’s game. The 23-year-old fired two scoreless, hitless innings after missing significant time earlier in the 2025 season.
The final Met to appear in the game was University of Tennessee alum Bryce Jenkins, a 17th-round pick from 2023. Jenkins looked good in his first frame of work, punching out the first two batters he faced. However, his control faltered in the following inning; he walked two of the first three batters and uncorked a wild pitch before his day was done.
It is also worth noting that speedster Nick Morabito did not appear in Wednesday’s game, but in his first taste of AFL action, he immediately made his mark by going 1-for-4 with a stolen base. Meanwhile, 26-year-old right-hander Jordan Geber is the final Met on the roster who has yet to appear in a game for Scottsdale.
