Although the Cincinnati Reds fell short of their World Series dreams, fans still showed up and showed out for the hometown team this season.
This year marked the Reds’ most-attended season in a decade, according to data obtained from the MLB by ESPN.
Data shows the Reds averaged 26,967 people per game across their 80 home games at Great American Ball Park. This marks the Reds’ largest average attendance since 2015, when they averaged 29,870 fans per game.
The team’s attendance records jumped as they welcomed seasoned MLB manager Terry Francona to the clubhouse. The Reds went on to have their best season in over a decade, with Cincinnati making a postseason appearance for the first time in a full-length season since 2013.
