Los Angeles Dodgers veteran infielder Miguel Rojas told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain that he’s going to retire at the conclusion of the 2026 season.

“It’s been a wild ride,” Rojas said after the Dodgers clinched the National League Division Series on Thursday night. “I’ve given it everything that I have every single night for the four years that I’ve been here. And hopefully I can finish my career here next year. Because I’m going to retire after next year.”

Rojas, 36, is in the midst of his second stint with the Dodgers. He debuted with LA in 2014 and had a few memorable moments — including saving Clayton Kershaw’s no-hitter — before being traded to the Miami Marlins.
Rojas then spent eight years in Miami before the Dodgers brought him back via trade. Rojas has now spent the last three seasons in LA, becoming a key leader in the locker room as well as bringing his strong bat and above-average glove to the infield when called upon.

Rojas stepped in during the 2023 season when Gavin Lux tore his ACL, appearing in 121 games at shortstop (and 124 games overall) and hitting .236 with a .612 OPS. He then greatly improved his bat in 2024, appearing in 103 games and hitting .283 with an OPS of .748.
This year, Rojas appeared in 114 games, hitting .262 with an OPS of .715. He also made (and continues to make) a huge impact on Mookie Betts in his transition to shortstop.
“He’s really helped Mookie’s growth, really sped up the process because of the nuances of the position and thinking about things that might or might not happen and getting ahead of it,” manager Dave Roberts said of Rojas this week.
“Mookie thinks as a shortstop and Miggy is a big reason why.”
Rojas is an invaluable member of this team, and is getting set to enter free agency after this season. However, he’s made his intentions known that he wants to play one more season in Los Angeles before ultimately retiring at the conclusion of the 2026 season.
