The Philadelphia Phillies looked as if though they were going to make a promising postseason run after they had a strong season in which they had a 96-66 record, the second best record in the National League. Yet, they ended up getting eliminated in the MLB Playoffs to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Divisional Series.
This puts the Phillies back at square one, again, and no they will have to adjust with seeing Kyle Schwarber set to hit free agency. Schwarber will more than likely want to test the free agent market, and if this is the case, it makes sense for the San Diego Padres to be the landing spot for him.

San Diego Padres Will Sign Kyle Schwarber in 2026 MLB Free AgencyÂ
The San Diego Padres went all-in at the 2025 MLB Trade Deadline, just to see it not pay off and the team end the season in disastrous fashion. For San Diego, they must figure out a way to bring a much-needed boost to the team this offseason and get the offense back on track, because they can’t have another season where they finish with a 90-72 record, make the playoffs, and then get eliminated in the Wild Card round.
A way in which the Padres would be able to get a boost on offense this offseason is by signing someone with the batting ability like Kyle Schwarber.

For 2026, it will be Kyle Schwarber’s age-33 season, but he has showed no signs of slowing down as he is coming off a career year where he had a slash line of .240/.365/.563, with 56 home runs which led the National League as well as 132 RBIs, all of which led to him earning his his third All-Star selection as well.
Over the entire career of Kyle Schwarber he has shown his batting power with a slash line of .231/.346/.500, 340 home runs, and 748 RBIs. With the power and consistency that Schwarber would provide, he would be an ideal addition for the Padres in 2026 MLB Free Agency.
