Three D51 teams will be in the Class 5A softball playoffs that start this weekend with the regional round.

Two teams — Grand Junction and Fruita Monument — will host regionals at Canyon View Park on Saturday.

With the rating percentage index determining most of the seeds, Fruita Monument ended the regular season ranked No. 6 in RPI and Grand Junction No. 7.

Fruita Monument (18-5) is the No. 7 seed and will host No. 26 Fossil Ridge (8-14-1). The other first-round game has No. 10 Pine Creek (19-3) playing No. 24 Arapahoe (12-11).

Even though Grand Junction (17-4) won the Southwestern League title, the Tigers are seeded No. 8.

The Tigers will play Vista Ridge (14-8) in the first game, with Riverdale Ridge (17-6) playing No. 24 Legacy (13-10) in the second game.

Two teams qualify from each of the eight regionals.

Both regionals will have a 10 a.m. start time for the first game with the winners advancing to the 12:30 p.m. title game.

The loser of the title game and the winner of the teams that lost in the first round will play at 3 p.m. for the second qualifying spot.

Fruita Monument is led by junior Emma Lara with a .438 batting average, senior Lexi Hulet, who has seven homers and 20 RBI, and senior Teagan Clement who has 83 strikeouts as a pitcher and 19 RBI at the plate.

The Tigers have four starters hitting over .400, led by senior Alexis Walpole, who is hitting .522 with 28 RBI and 28 runs scored. Senior catcher Ashley Gonzalez is hitting .470 with 19 RBI, and junior pitcher Kloe Donahue has struck out 108 batters in 82.1 innings on the season.

Central (8-13) is coming off an up-and-down regular season but made the playoffs as the No. 32 seed. The Warriors will take on the No. 1 seed Broomfield (20-2).

No. 16 Grandview (14-9) will play No. 17 Chatfield (11-12) in the other first-round game.

The Warriors are led by senior Emma Grabau, who leads the team in batting average (.542), RBI (19), runs scored (25) and stolen bases (13).

Palisade is headed to the Class 4A softball playoffs and will travel to Elizabeth for the Site 6 regional.

The Bulldogs (13-9) are seeded 22nd and will play No. 11 Widefield (21-2) in the first game with the winner taking on he winner between No. 6 Elizabeth (21-2) and No. 27 Pueblo Centennial (12-11).

Palisade is led by junior Jamyson Mancuso, who is hitting .444 with 28 RBI, and freshman Lexi Trottier, who is hitting .485 with 22 RBI.

Montrose (15-7) is the 14 seed and will play No. 19 Ponderosa (11-12). No. 3 Holy Family (19-4) is the host team and will play Westminster (12-11) in he first game.

Rifle (18-4) is seeded 15th and will play No. 18 Roosevelt (15-8) at Palmer Ridge (19-4), the No. 2 seed that will play Pueblo East (11-12) in the first game.

The top seed in 4A is Windsor (21-2).

Dates for 4A games have yet to be announced but will likely be n Saturday.

In Class 3A, Cedaredge (14-5) is the 11th seed and will play No. 22 Platte Valley (10-13). No. 6 Brush (16-6) is the region’s top seed.

No. 13 Delta (15-8) will play No. 20 Peak to Peak (10-13). Forge Christian (20-3) is seeded No. 4 in the region.

No. 31 Meeker (6-14) will play No. 2 Eaton (19-4).

University (21-2) is the top seed in 3A.
