Sandy Alomar Sr., the Puerto Rico native who played 15 years in Major League Baseball, who managed and coached as well and was a parent to two great players, died at the age of 81.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Major League player and coach Sandy Alomar Sr.,” read a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) by MLB.
 “We remember Sandy for his achievements on the field, his lifelong commitment to the game, and a proud family legacy that was represented with distinction by his sons Sandy Jr. and Roberto,” added MLBPA executive director Tony Clark, per The Athletic.
What was the cause of death? Per El Nuevo Dia and translated from Spanish: “Authorities reported that the former player suffered a medical incident that caused his immediate death while he was away from his residence.”
