CALEXICO — Los Águilas de Mexicali, also known as the Eagle Knights, continued their preparation for the 2025-2026 Mexican Pacific League (LMP) season with a convincing 8-1 victory over the Imperial Valley All-Stars in the Border Pro Classic 2025. The contest was held at Elmer Belcher Stadium, home of the Calexico Bulldogs.

Early offensive production

The Plumed Ones set the pace of the game early, putting together a four-run rally in the second inning. Yadir Drake opened the scoring by touching home plate on a wild pitch. The production continued with an Irving López single to left field, driving in the second run. Cade Gotta finished the attack with a hit to center field that brought in two more runs, making the score 4-0.

The offensive dominance extended into the third inning with four additional runs. Irving López came through with another RBI hit, sending Yadir Drake home. The score increased thanks to consecutive RBI hits from Antonio Castañeda, Jonathan Ornelas, and Ren Tachioka, raising the score to a decisive 8-0 in favor of Mexicali.

The Imperial Valley All-Stars managed to break the shutout in the fifth inning thanks to a solitary home run by Leo Veliz, which established the final score of 8 runs to 1.

Solid performance from the mound

The Águilas’ pitching staff demonstrated notable solidity. Starter David Reyes shone with four shutout innings. The relief plan was executed successfully, featuring Fernando Lozano, who allowed the game’s only run during his two innings, followed by the performances of Yahir Gámez, Jesús Cruz, and closer Jake Sánchez, who each threw one inning.

The team reports it is ready for the official start of the 2025-2026 LMP season, which will begin on October 15 at El Nido de Los Águilas, when they host Los Charros de Jalisco.
