HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — On this date in 1960, the Pittsburgh Pirates won the World Series.

The Pirates beat the New York Yankees in one of the most dramatic fashions in World Series history.

In the deciding Game 7, Bill Mazeroski hit a home run over the left field wall in the 9th inning at Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field, and he wasn’t even known as a home run hitter prior to that.

He only had 11 homers in the whole regular season.
