GRAND LEDGE, Mich. (WILX) – Grand Ledge High School announced Tuesday that Jason Smith will serve as the Comets’ next head baseball coach.
Smith served as an assistant coach last season and was the interim head coach when the Comets won the Diamond Classic earlier this year.
“I am thrilled to welcome Jason Smith to his new role in the program as our head baseball coach,” said athletic director Steve Baker. “Coach Smith is a man of principle and character. His leadership, coaching, and involvement in this community’s baseball programs over the years have directly benefited the high school program that he now coaches. His commitment to developing student athletes both on and off the field aligns perfectly with our district’s values. We are confident he is the right person to build on our program’s rich history and lead us to new heights.”
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be named the head baseball coach in Grand Ledge,” said coach Smith. “This is a historic program and my coaching staff and I are excited to get to work with the student-athletes, administration, alumni, and this community to build another championship-caliber team.”
