DETROIT — After taking two of three during a chaotic weekend in Kansas City, the Red Sox will face another test as they visit the best team in the American League.

Kristian Campbell is back at second base, Abraham Toro is at first base and Connor Wong is catching Monday night against the Tigers, who enter the day with the best record in the AL at 26-15. All three were out of Sunday’s lineup as David Hamilton, Nick Sogard and Carlos Narváez started. Campbell is back in the cleanup spot with Wilyer Abreu hitting fifth.

The three-game series at Comerica Park will pit manager Alex Cora against his older brother, Joey, who is Detroit’s third base coach.

“I love it,” Alex Cora said. “First of all. It happens that also his birthday is on Wednesday, so the fact I’m here is cool. To be around him and talk to him and pick his brain is something I always look forward to. Obviously, the competition is the competition. We both believe we have good teams and we’re going to be playing meaningful games in September. It looks that way. They’re doing a great job over there and we believe we’re going to be better. We’re playing for the same prize.”

Tanner Houck, who allowed three runs (two earned) in 4 ⅔ innings Wednesday against Texas, will pitch opposite Tigers rookie Jackson Jobe. First pitch is at 6:40 p.m. ET.
