KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A trio of Kansas City Royals who flashed the leather all season long are finalists for a Gold Glove award.
On Wednesday, the Royals announced that shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., third baseman Maikel Garcia and center fielder Kyle Isbel each were named finalists for the award.
After winning his first Gold Glove a year ago, Witt is trying to go back-to-back. He’s up against Corey Seager of the Texas Rangers and Taylor Walls of the Tampa Bay Rays. The 25-year-old Royals shortstop led all position players in MLB with 25 outs above average.
Garcia and Isbel are each looking for their first Gold Gloves. Garcia, who entered the season not even starting on Opening Day, took over the everyday third baseman role and thrived defensively. He was at the top of all third basemen in defensive runs saved and was seventh in MLB in outs above average regardless of position.
Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement and Cleveland Guardians superstar Jose Ramirez are vying for the award along with Garcia, who was named an All-Star for the first time in 2025.
In center field, Isbel is up against Red Sox outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela and Mariners star Julio Rodriguez.
