The Detroit Tigers get set to wrap up their three-game series against the Athletics on Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park.
It was a rough night for the Tigers in Game 2 of the set against the A’s. After multiple nights where the offense was able to carry the team, Detroit’s bats pretty much went silent on Wednesday night. The team mustered up a measly four hits, and thanks to one swing of the bat, the Tigers fell by a score of 3-0.

That one swing came from the Athletics’ Nick Kurtz, whose three-run home run in the third inning ended up being all the A’s needed to end their three-game losing streak. Starter Jacob Lopez was strong, striking out six in seven scoreless innings of work.
It was just the fifth time this season the Tigers have been held off the scoreboard, and the third time at home. Yet, they still sit well atop the American League Central, leading the Cleveland Guardians by 8.5 games.
The A’s are at the bottom of the AL West, 9.5 games back of a Wild Card spot.
