NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Construction for Hawkins Field enhancements is set to begin, Vanderbilt University announced Oct. 17. This marks the next phase of Vandy United’s reimagining of the home of the two-time national champion VandyBoys. Work will expand and upgrade spaces and amenities for head coach Tim Corbin’s student-athletes and the fans who make Hawkins Field one of the hottest tickets in NCAA Division I baseball.

“Tim Corbin’s VandyBoys set the bar for excellence, and with Vandy United, we’re bringing that same standard to Hawkins Field,” said Candice Storey Lee, vice chancellor for athletics and university affairs and athletic director. “The transformation of this beloved home for Vanderbilt Baseball is a central part of the Frist Athletics Village—our vision for facilities that match our aspirations and enrich Nashville’s thriving sports community. And we’re asking our community of supporters to continue to support and invest. We appreciate Commodore Nation helping us push forward.”

In total, the Hawkins Field footprint will encompass approximately 50,000 square feet of new or enhanced space, including student-athlete resources, additional capacity, premium seating and expanded food and beverage options. Construction will begin immediately. As work progresses, the VandyBoys will continue to call Hawkins Field home during the 2026 season.

The project also prioritizes player development, with more than 10,000 square feet devoted to a new weight room and pitching lab. In 2016, a capstone gift from former VandyBoys star and AL Cy Young winner David Price kickstarted a campaign responsible for the existing infrastructure, including hitting facilities, classroom and alumni locker room. This project received similarly enthusiastic support from several former VandyBoys, including an anonymous Vandy baseball alumnus and his alumna spouse matching all qualifying gifts and pledges by other baseball alumni, up to $10 million. The new facilities will help a program coming off its third SEC Tournament championship in the past six tournaments remain on the cutting edge.

“I’m grateful to everyone who has supported this project—and especially to our former players who nurture the sense of family that makes our program successful by giving back,” Corbin said. “Hawkins Field is special to us and to the supporters who stand by our team year after year. We couldn’t fulfill our mission of building these young men to lead in their chosen field without the support of this community. I appreciate that we will have the tools to go on teaching in a home that our fans will be excited to share with us on game days.”

Consistently ranked among NCAA Division I leaders in attendance, after averaging better than 97 percent capacity during the 2025 season, baseball at Hawkins Field is among the rites of spring at Vanderbilt.

New amenities that will make a day at the ballpark a day to remember also include:

The Party Deck 360 Bar (2,800 square feet, located on the main concourse) and 60 ft. 6 Bar (3,730 square feet, located on the upper concourse) will provide new levels of hospitality for coming together with friends, family, alumni and supporters.

The Taste of Nashville Market will feature grab and go options including portable carts throughout Hawkins Field to allow fans to explore the city’s culinary favorites without missing any of the action on the field.

The Vanderbilt Athletics ticket office and the National Commodore Club will work with existing season ticket holders in the affected areas to discuss options for alternate seating. Additional information on temporary adjustments to ticketing and gameday procedures will be communicated as the season nears.
