The offseason won’t begin in earnest for another 10 days or so, when the conclusion of the World Series leads to the kickoff of free agency and the chance to once again make trades.
To date, much of the speculation regarding the Red Sox’ need for an answer at first base — and, in the process, their wish to upgrade power — has centered around free agent options like Pete Alonso, Josh Naylor and a few select others.
