The biggest series for a generation of baseball fans in the Pacific Northwest is nearing its start.
The Seattle Mariners square off with the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series at Rogers Centre in Toronto on Sunday night.
Seattle Mariners announce ALCS roster with 2 changes
The Mariners in the ALCS for the first time since 2001 and fourth time in franchise history, and they’re looking for their first-ever trip to the World Series.
Here’s the lineup the Mariners are rolling out to back Game 1 starter Bryce Miller against the Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman, which is the same look they’ve generally had against right-handers in the postseason:

As for the starters, Miller is pitching on just three days rest after throwing 55 pitches in 4 1/3 innings of two-run ball in Seattle’s AL Division Series Game 4 loss to the Detroit Tigers.
Miller had a 4-6 record, 5.68 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 90 1/3 innings in 18 starts in the regular season. The right-hander battled through a bone spur and inflammation in his pitching elbow, twice going on the injured list.
Miller allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks in his lone start against Toronto this season on May 11, which was his last start before his first IL stint.
The 34-year-old Gausman gave up only one run on four hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings in the Blue Jays’ ALDS Game 1 win over the New York Yankees. A two-time All-Star, he was 10-11 with a 3.59 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 193 innings in 32 starts in the regular season.
Gausman surrendered three runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings in his lone start against the Mariners this season on May 9.
First pitch for Game 1 of the ALCS is scheduled for 5:03 p.m. Radio coverage begins at 4 p.m. with the pregame show on the Seattle Sports app and Seattle Sports 710 AM following Seahawks coverage.
