Asking Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow to follow up Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 3 of the World Series would be folly. You can’t expect every pitcher on the Dodgers to turn in a dominant, complete-game performance on the sport’s biggest stage. But Glasnow is looking to carry Yamamoto’s momentum into Monday’s contest. Glasnow, who has a 0.68 ERA this postseason, is trying to give the Dodgers the lead in the 2025 World Series with a win against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 3.
Toronto sends veteran Max Scherzer to the mound to oppose Glasnow. Scherzer knows a thing or two about pitching in big games. The veteran has 31 playoff appearances over his Hall of Fame career and has won two World Series championships, leading the Washington Nationals and Texas Rangers to titles.

Scherzer, 41, is coming off his worst season in the majors, but he found a way to turn back time in his one playoff start so far, allowing just two runs over 5 2/3 innings during Toronto’s win over the Seattle Mariners in Game 4 of the ALCS. If Scherzer can repeat that performance Monday, he would give the Blue Jays a shot at a 2-1 lead in the series.

Another leadoff walk for Glasnow. He’s up to three on the night and might not be in the his game much longer.

Max Scherzer gets a much-needed 1-2-3 inning in the fourth and is now at 72 pitches through four. But Shohei Ohtani is due up next inning for his third look at the right-hander …

The Blue Jays answered back in a big way in the 4th inning, with catcher Alejandro Kirk smashing a three-run homer off Glasnow after Guerrero Jr. led off with a walk and Bichette reached via error.
That home run would’ve been plenty of a response on its own, but the Blue Jays’ bats kept rolling after that, looking far more like the potent unit we saw in Game 1 than the lineup that was silenced by Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 2.
Singles from Addison Barger and Ernie Clement were converted into another run when Andres Gimenez delivered a sac fly to make it 4-2. Scherzer now has a lead to work with, but does that give him notably more leash from manager John Schneider? We’ll find out.

The bad news for the Dodgers: This game is progressing exactly like Game 1, in which they scored the first couple of runs, then lost the lead with a big Blue Jays inning in which their starting pitcher’s command got shaky.
The good news for the Dodgers: The Blue Jays scored four runs this time, not nine.

Glasnow enters the crowd’s good graces again by striking out George Springer. He’s at 66 pitches through four.

Andres Gimenez brings in another run with a sacrifice fly, and would have brought in another three runs had that ball travelled another 10 feet or so. We might be seeing the Dodgers bullpen more than expected tonight.

And now back-to-back hits from Addison Barger and Ernie Clement to put runners on the corners with one out. This is easily the worst Glasnow has looked all postseason.

Tyler Glasnow hung a curveball, and Alejandro Kirk gave it a ride. A three-run homer gives the Blue Jays the lead in the fourth inning.
Two mistakes (the Vlad Jr. walk and Edman error) come home to roost there.

After a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walk, Tommy Edman whiffs on a hard grounder from Bo Bichette to give the Blue Jays runners at the corners with no outs. Tight spot for Glasnow.

Scherzer has thrown 60 pitches through three innings with two no-doubt home runs allowed to Teoscar Hernandez and Shohei Ohtani. His stuff has generally looked quite crisp from both a velocity and movement standpoint, but the margin for error in terms of location is rather small against this Dodgers lineup, and that’s why the Blue Jays are currently down 2-0.
It’ll be interesting to see how long John Schneider lets Scherzer ride with a fresh bullpen available. At the very least, it’s awfully hard to imagine Scherzer will face Ohtani a third time

Meanwhile, Max Scherzer is up to 60 pitches through three innings. You have to wonder if the Blue Jays even have him face Shohei Ohtani a third time.

Smith singles to right field, but Blue Jays right field Addison Barger’s throw beats Freddie Freeman to the plate by a mile to keep this a two-run deficit. Remember when we said Freeman is one of the slower players in MLB?

Call stands, Freeman is safe at second with two outs and a full count for Will Smith.
