The Seattle Mariners will make franchise history in one way no matter what, but there’s one historical marker that’s the clear goal Monday night.
The M’s are set for their first-ever Game 7 as they take on the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in the deciding clash of the American League Championship Series.

Seattle is looking to clinch the first trip to the World Series in franchise history. Toronto is vying to make it back to the Fall Classic for the first time since winning the Commissioner’s Trophy in 1993.
Here’s a look at the lineups and pitching matchup for Game 7 of the ALCS between the M’s and Blue Jays.
Mariners lineup
The Mariners are shaking things up a bit after running out the same lineups for Games 5 and 6.
Aaron Goldsmith: Mariners’ Game 7 gameplan has to be different
Seattle is moving hot-hitting first baseman Josh Naylor up one spot to three hole while dropping designated hitter Jorge Polanco to the cleanup spot. Naylor is 15 for 31 (.484) with three homers and five multi-hit games over his past eight games. All three of his home runs have come in the ALCS.
Additionally, Victor Robles is getting the start in right field in place Dominic Canzone. Robles is hitting ninth, which moved second baseman Leo Rivas up to the eight hole. Robles has gone just 3 for 26 in the postseason, but provides a defensive upgrade in right field over Canzone, who has just three hits in 27 playoff at-bats.

Pitching matchup
Mariners right-hander George Kirby is set to face Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber in a rematch of Game 3, which Toronto won 13-4.
Kirby surrendered eight runs, three homers, eight hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings of work in Game 3. The 2023 All-Star was a key part of the Mariners’ AL Division Series win over the Detroit Tigers. In two starts, he struck out 14 and allowed just three runs over 10 innings, which included pitching five innings of one-run ball in the decisive Game 5. This will be the third time Kirby has pitched in a postseason elimination game.
Bieber held Seattle two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings to earn the Game 3 win. The 2020 Cy Young Award winner surrendered three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk in his lone start during the ALDS against the New York Yankees. This will be Bieber’s first career start in an elimination game.
Game 7 of the ALCS is set for a 5:10 p.m. first pitch Monday. Radio coverage begins at 4 p.m. on the Seattle Sports app, Seattle Red 770 AM and 98.9 FM The Bull with the pregame show. The game will be televised on FOX.
