The Astros topped the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-3 with 10,046 in attendance at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
Houston took a second-inning lead with three runs, courtesy of a Victor Caratini (3) solo home run, a Cam Smith RBI-double, and a Chas McCormick RBI-single. Colton Gordon kept the Rays off the board until the fifth inning, striking out seven over 5 1⁄3 innings and allowing three runs on five hits and zero walks. In the fifth, Danny Jansen (3) hit a two-run homer, then Jose Caballero tied it in the sixth with an RBI-double.
The 3-3 tie held until just a half-inning later, when Jake Meyers (3) hit a go-ahead and eventual game-winning solo home run off Rays reliever Manuel Rodriguez (0-2, 2.53) Bryan King (2-0, 1.31) earned the win with 1 1⁄3 innings of scoreless ball. Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader (12 saves) closed it out.
Gordon put 59-of-83 pitches in the strike zone, a rate of 71 percent. Jeremy Peña led Houston with three singles, while Isaac Paredes, Meyers and Smith had two hits apiece.

The two clubs will be back at it again tomorrow night at 6:05PM CT, with Houston sending old TBD out to the mound opposite Rays starter Zack Littell (3-5, 4.31).
