SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) -A man has died at the Grayson County Jail after having a medical emergency while he was being booked in, according to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.
45-year-old Bryan Jeffery Curtis was arrested by Denison police for violating a protective order.
When jail staff were booking Curtis in Sunday evening around 7 p.m., he began experiencing a medical emergency, and the jail’s medical staff performed “life-saving measures” on him, according to a press release.
Curtis was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Texas Rangers are investigating what happened, as is customary for an in-custody death.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office says no force was used when staff was booking Curtis in.
