COMANCHE, Texas — A disturbing incident on Thursday, May 15, has left the Comanche County community on edge after a person was discovered on fire along Highway 2823, near the borders of Comanche, Erath, and Hamilton Counties.

We’re told the person died but was not identified immediately. The cause of death are victim identity have yet to be released.

The Comanche County Sheriff’s Office received notification of the incident, prompting a swift response from both the sheriffs and the Gustine Volunteer Fire Department.

We’re told this maybe related to a series of 911 calls in surrounding counties.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers Division is currently leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event.

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, officials have assured the public that there is no active threat to the area.
