2025 record: 77-85 (4th in AL East)
After a run of five straight playoff appearances from 2019-2023 (.594 winning percentage), the Rays have taken a couple of steps back into mediocrity. Key injuries to their top-of-the-rotation starters, a young superstar making a career-ending mistake and a lack of impact from the heart of their order has combined to hinder this club.
The Rays were displaced from their home field in 2025 due to hurricane damage to their roof, instead playing their home games in a division adversary’s Spring Training facility. By all accounts, the Trop is a dump, but it truly provides a home field advantage for this club that not many teams can rival.
This club has a lot of homegrown talent and is seemingly in a constant state of retooling. The small market label describes how the Rays operate, but they certainly don’t hide behind it. This organization does a great job developing from within, which is why this exercise of projecting a roster two and a half years out favors them.
