Best Pure Hitter: The Brewers, as usual, took a number of contact-oriented hitters who have a feel for the barrel. Both 3B Andrew Fischer (1) and SS Brady Ebel (1C) have a chance to be above-average pure hitters, though if we had to pick one here, Ebel’s advanced approach, clean swing and contact ability at such a young age would give him the edge.
Best Power Hitter: Fischer (1) not only has easy plus raw power, but he has a swing that is optimized to take advantage of the power that he does have in games. He has a steep swing and gets the ball in the air to the pull side with great frequency, and his batting eye allows him to spin on pitches out of the zone. He homered 56 times in three seasons, including a 2025 spring with Tennessee in which his 25 homers were among the best in the country.Â
Fastest Runner: Boston College OF Josiah Ragsdale (7) is a legitimate burner who stands out for his running ability first and foremost. He explodes out of the box and pressures defenses with his double-plus speed and also uses that speed to cover plenty of ground in center field. He went 63-for-79 (79.7%) on the bases throughout his career and added nine more in his 21-game pro debut.Â
Best Defensive Player: California high school SS CJ Hughes (11) has excellent defensive actions in the field and looks like a shortstop in the long run. He’s a smooth, rangy defender who has good footwork, balance and a quick exchange with solid arm strength that should get better as he adds more strength. Ragsdale (7) has a chance to be a plus defender in center field, though he does have a below-average arm.
Best Fastball: Vanderbilt LHP JD Thompson (2) doesn’t have the hardest fastball, but it has consistently played like a plus pitch because he can locate it well to both sides, and it has great carry at the top of the zone. It sits in the low 90s and will top out around 96 mph. High school RHP Joshua Flores (4) is already sitting around 93 mph and touching 96 and could be consistently in the upper 90s in the near future.
Best Secondary Pitch: LHP Frank Cairone (2S) is one of those pitchers who just has a natural ability to spin the ball at a high level. He currently throws a big, sweeping breaking ball in the 78-83 mph range that is in the 2,800-3,000 rpm range with huge movement and plus potential. Flores (4) throws a curveball with less spin and movement, but more power and bite in the low 80s. It has plus potential, as well.Â
Best Pro Debut: The Brewers activated just three players from their 2025 class for official games: Fischer (1), Ebel (1C) and Ragsdale (7). Fischer had the most impressive debut, and he was also the only player who played at the High-A level with Wisconsin. He slashed .311/.402/.446 with one home run, one triple and five doubles in 19 games.
Best Athlete: Ragsdale (7) and Hughes (11) are the most traditionally impressive athletes in this class thanks to their combination of speed, and quick-twitch actions. Coastal Carolina RHP Jacob Morrison (3) is an impressive athlete in the sense that he’s a towering 6-foot-8 righty who repeats his delivery well and has a chance for plus control.
Most Intriguing Background: LSU SS Daniel Dickinson (6) started his career with Utah Valley State. While there, he hit well over .300 in back-to-back seasons with a strong blend of on-base ability and power. He was one of the most coveted transfers in the country despite a modest summer in the Cape Cod League, then transferred to LSU and hit well in the best conference in the country. In SEC competition, Dickinson slashed .315/.453/.477 with four home runs, six doubles and nearly as many walks (19) as strikeouts (22).
Closest To The Majors: Fischer (1) has advanced hitting ability, approach and power necessary to move quickly as a hitter. He has proven himself at the highest level in college baseball in multiple seasons and also had a solid debut at the High-A level.
Best 11+ Round Pick (Or UDFA): The Brewers signed a number of big-money upside high school players after the 10th round, including Hughes (11), RHP Luke Roupe (17), C Rylan Mills (18), RHP Chase Bentley (19) and RHP Ma’Kale Holden (20).Â
