Griffin Wong gives a same game parlay (SGP) to consider on DraftKings Sportsbook for Game 5 of the Dodgers-Blue Jays World Series.
Last night, the Toronto Blue Jays went on another late-inning charge, exploding for four runs against Shohei Ohtani, Anthony Banda, Blake Treinen and the Los Angeles Dodgers, tying the World Series at two games apiece and re-claiming home field advantage from the National League champion’s throes. Tonight’s Game 5, which begins at 8:08 p.m. ET at Dodger Stadium, will be pivotal for both teams.
With both teams’ rotations re-setting, we’ll get the same matchup as we did in Game 1: the Blue Jays’ Trey Yesavage and the Dodgers’ Blake Snell. In Game 1, Yesavage out-dueled Snell and Toronto put up nine runs in the sixth inning alone to claim a victory at Rogers Centre, so Los Angeles will surely be seeking redemption.
Placing Same Game Parlays (SGPs) is arguably the most fun way to experience the Fall Classic at DraftKings Sportsbook, and the DraftKings Network staff has suggested SGP’s for each of the games so far. Here’s my favorite three-leg parlay for tonight’s crucial Game 5.
Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Same Game Parlay
Los Angeles Dodgers U4.5 Runs
Miguel Rojas 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs
Blake Snell 7+ Strikeouts
Los Angeles Dodgers U4.5 Runs
If the Dodgers are going to avoid going down 3-2 — which would be a death sentence going back north of the border, even with their Games 2 and 3 winners set to take the mound — it’ll have to be a low-scoring one, because the offense has looked pretty dreadful this series. They’ve produced a .692 OPS, which would have been the league’s fifth-worst mark in the regular season, scoring just three runs in their last 20 innings. Enrique Hernández, Max Muncy, Tommy Edman, Mookie Betts, and Andy Pages are all below the Mendoza Line for the series, and the Blue Jays look likely to simply pitch around Ohtani, who’s either produced or scored seven of Los Angeles’ 17 runs.
Miguel Rojas 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts all but confirmed that Rojas will start his third game of this playoff run by suggesting that there would be changes in the lineup. It could mean putting in Alex Call instead of Rojas — Call appeared as a pinch hitter last night in place of Pages — but Call has struggled in his five World Series at-bats. Therefore, it’s probably going to be Rojas, even though Call has less extreme platoon splits and seems to be the better matchup against the right-handed Yesavage. The one complete game that Rojas has earned this playoff run came against the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card Round, and he had four hits/runs/RBI’s. Plus, Yesavage likes to throw sliders to right-handed batters, and Rojas slugged .481 against righty sliders this season.
Blake Snell 7+ Strikeouts
Toronto has incredible bat-to-ball skills, but it has actually only struck out three fewer times than Los Angeles has so far this series. Snell only notched four strikeouts in his five-plus innings in Game 1, but it’s unlikely he’ll produce such a poor performance again after striking out nine or more batters in each of his first three postseason starts and striking out seven or more in four of the five regular season starts he made at Dodger Stadium after returning from injury in August. One of those starts came on August 9 against the Blue Jays, when he struck out 10 across five innings in a 9-1 victory.
