With the promotion of Josh Elander to head coach, Tennessee baseball obviously had an opening on staff to fill — and they swung for the fences. According to reports, Elander has tapped Chuck Jeroloman from Florida to be his top assistant and recruiting coordinator, stealing away one of the top young names in college baseball from the rival Gators.

Kendall Rogers had the news late on Thursday night.

Jeroloman was serving as the interim head coach for Florida after Kevin O’Sullivan took a leave of absence. He’s been the assistant head coach to O’Sullivan for six seasons, much like Elander was under Vitello. Elander and Jeroloman crossed paths back in the day at TCU, where Elander was a player and Jeroloman was a volunteer coach.

Volquest is reporting that Jeroloman will serve as the assistant head coach and Ross Kivett will be named the recruiting coordinator.

At D1 Baseball, Rogers named Jeroloman as one of 25 assistant coaches ready to become a head coach.

Jeroloman is a former shortstop, playing for Auburn before getting drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2004. He began his coaching career as an assistant at TCU before moving on to Jacksonville. From there he landed at South Florida, where he was also the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach. He joined Florida in 2019, where he’s been credited with helping produce several big-time power prospects like Jac Caglianone and Wyatt Langford.

He’ll now work with an ultra talented Tennessee roster, highlighted by sluggers like Henry Ford, Levi Clark and Blaine Brown.

Tennessee will end the fall on November 9th in Knoxville with their Fall World Series game at Covenant Health Park.
