OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – On this day in 2015, Nebraska baseball legend Alex Gordon led the Kansas City Royals to a World Series title.
The Royals captured their first championship in 30 years with 4-1 series victory over the New York Mets – the Royals’ first title in three decades.
Gordon is a Lincoln native with a stellar college career. He also helped lead the Huskers to the College World Series in 2005.
Gordon was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame just this summer. He spent his entire 14-year career with Kansas City.
