It was a game that had everything, from momentum-swinging home runs to spectacular defensive plays to an all-time performance from Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto to a gut punch at the end for Toronto Blue Jays fans.

And it produced monster viewership numbers in the U.S.

Game 7 of the World Series — a come-from-behind 5-4 victory in 11 innings to give baseball a repeat champion for the first time in 25 years — averaged 25.984 million viewers across FOX, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports streaming platforms, based on Nielsen’s fast national reporting.

It was the most-watched World Series game since Game 7 of the 2017 World Series (Astros-Dodgers, 28.2 million viewers) and peaked at 31.543 million viewers from 11:30-11:45 PM ET.

(An important note: The viewership numbers will increase marginally when the final numbers come in Tuesday. Networks often order fast nationals from Nielsen to get a preliminary number for a major event. Nielsen’s final data will include the Big Data + Panel numbers. Out-of-home viewing is included in the above viewership.)

FOX said Game 7 averaged 25.45 million viewers on the FOX Network alone. To offer some context: Last year’s Game 5 between the Dodgers and Yankees — the No. 1 and No. 2 media markets in the country — averaged 18.2 million viewers. The last World Series Game 7 — featuring the Nationals and Astros — averaged 23.2 million.

The numbers in Canada should also be massive. Sportsnet, the Canadian MLB rights holder, said Game 5 of the World Series averaged 7.2 million viewers. The data for the final games will be in this week. Keep in mind: The entire population of Canada is 41 million.

For those who watched it — and there were millions of you — it’s a World Series we won’t soon forget.
