He was unable to pitch in the playoffs as part of the PED suspension.

Alvarado pitched in just 28 games in 2025, with a 3.81 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, notching 32 strikeouts in 26 innings pitched with seven saves.

Overall, in five seasons with the Phillies, Alvarado has appeared in 259 games and has a 17-12 record with a 3.48 ERA and an eye-popping 308 strikeouts in 235.2 innings pitched.

The Phillies felt his loss in the playoffs this season, where he would have given the team another high-leverage arm against the Dodgers’ left-handed bats, including Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman.

How His Return Impacts the 2026 Bullpen

With Alvarado back in 2026, they can pair him with 2025 trade acquisition Johan Duran to form a formidable back end of the bullpen.  The team will also return Matt Straham, Orion Kerkering, and Tanner Banks.
