RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -The Reno Aces are rallying the community to show support for one of their own. David Calvert is the Reno Aces’ longtime team photographer. He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia over the summer. The team has set up an online auction to help raise money for Calvert and his family. And now, the Arizona Diamondbacks have added items to the auction.
Among the items are a Luis Gonzalez signed World Series replica bat, signed baseballs from current D-backs players Corbin Carroll and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and a batting practice experience at Chase Field for a game during the 2026 season.
“Not only has David been a pillar here with the Aces, he’s also been a pillar with the Reno community,” says James Cole, Community Relations Manager for the Reno Aces. “He teaches a class at UNR, he’s one of the main photographers you’ll see around town. Whether it’s doing different parades, events, weddings– anything you can think of where a photographer would be, David Calvert has been there and he’s just honestly a really big pillar of the community.”
The Reno Aces say there have been very few people as impactful to the Aces organization as Calvert, telling the story of the Aces’ 16 years as a franchise through his photos. To support Calvert and his family, the Reno Aces will donate every dollar raised from the auction directly to him and his recovery. The bidding on new items will end on November 12th at 8 p.m. Pacific Time.
A GoFundMe has also been launched.
