Tennessee left-handed pitcher Brandon Arvidson exited game one of the Vols’ Orange-and-White Fall World Series Friday afternoon after a line drive hit him in the right arm. Arvidson was in clear pain and exited the game immediately.
Tennessee believes Arvidson avoided serious injury but he will be further evaluated in the following days according to a UT spokesperson.
Arvidson pitched 3.1 innings in game one of the fall world series, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out two batters. One of his two earned runs came after he exited with the runner RHP Brady Frederick inherited on first scoring after a pair of singles.
The Orange team knocked off Arvidson and the White team 6-0 in the seven-inning scrimmage. Reese Chapman drove in two runs while Hutson Chance, Trent Grindlinger, Stone Lawless and Tyler Myatt also drove in runs. Evan Blanco and Bo Rhudy impressed on the mound, combining to allow just three baserunners while striking on seven in 6.1 innings pitched.

Tennessee resumes its fall world series on Saturday afternoon at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. First pitch is at 1 p.m. ET with the two teams planning to play seven innings. It concludes on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. ET at Covenant Health Park in downtown Knoxville.
Arvidson is in line to be a weekend starting pitcher for Tennessee this season after surprisingly turning down the MLB Draft to return for his senior season. The left-handed pitcher finished the 2025 season with a 2-0 record and a 4.19 ERA on 30 appearances for the season. He struck out 70 batters in 38.2 innings.
A junior college transfer who started his career at Texas A&M, Arvidson struggled early in the 2025 season before becoming one of Tennessee’s most trusted pitchers and a dominant left-handed arm by the end of the season.
