Second baseman Ketel Marte won his second Silver Slugger Award, earning the honor in back-to-back seasons. Outfielder Corbin Carroll and shortstop Geraldo Perdomo each claimed their first Silver Slugger Awards, joining several other first-time recipients this year.
This year’s class featured 11 first-time winners, the most in a single season since 2016. Carroll and Perdomo joined the likes of Pete Alonso, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Cal Raleigh among the newcomers honored.
Not only did they make MLB history, but along with Marte, they became the most Diamondbacks players to win the award in a single season. The most Arizona had in a single season was two, when Paul Goldschmidt and David Peralta won the award in 2018.

Their history-making season offers insight into how far the team’s offense has come and how much potential remains. It also marks the beginning of the payoff from the organization’s emphasis on scouting and developing homegrown talent. The Diamondbacks have demonstrated that they can trust the players they have, without relying on big-money free agents to deliver production.
Carroll became the first Diamondbacks player to record 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in the same year. Perdomo made franchise history by driving in the most RBIs by a shortstop in a single season. Marte, despite missing part of the year due to injury, still hit 28 home runs and had 72 RBIs.

While the team still has areas to address this offseason, the trio’s historic Silver Slugger sweep made one thing clear.
Carroll, Perdomo and Marte are the “Big Three” the Diamondbacks have been searching for over the years, capable of leading the team to new heights.
There are 11 first-time Silver Slugger winners between the National League (Pete Alonso, Alec Burleson, Corbin Carroll, Hunter Goodman, and Geraldo Perdomo) and the American League (Byron Buxton, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Riley Greene, Nick Kurtz, Zach McKinstry and Cal Raleigh).
